Game of Thrones fans won’t want to miss a visit to our friends at South Place Hotel this Christmas as Westeros comes to London.
Field Grey attended the launch of ‘Winter is Coming’ at South Place last night, where press and friends enjoyed ice cold cocktails and red hot canapés in the Secret Garden bar amongst the Games of Thrones’ themed decorations.
The indoor/outdoor bar space has been transformed into an ice palace. White glass, tea-light filled baubles, icicles and snowflakes hang above head, while a wall of snow surrounds the bar. Iced goblets of pear brandy and cranberry concoctions are on an endless supply.
South Place’s private dining rooms have been transformed with various Game of Thrones guises; one a palacial room fit for Daenerys and the other a wintery affair with frosted branches and lavish table decorations.
This season’s theme is the design and creation of Spanish set and costume designer Mr Ben, whose previous work includes design for Marie Claire, the Sunday Times and television programmes.
Music was provided by London-based folk-rock band Hunter and the Bear, who managed to squeeze into a corner of the bar and belt out hits while revellers downed ice-cold cocktails.
