Building of the Tate Modern Switch House from Matt Bramford on Vimeo.
The new Tate Modern finally launches this weekend, with the grand opening of the Switch House. Designed by ‘starchitects’ Herzog & de Meuron, who conceived the original transformation of the old power station, the building is a beautiful brick pyramid standing at 65 metres high. The sexy, sloping brick lattice design is sensitive to the original construction. Inside,22,000 square metres of new space provides room for major exhibitions and learning.
Blog manager Matt works nearby and his video shows the construction of the Switch House through nearly 100 photographs taken over the last year. If only he’d started sooner!
