Field Grey likes… this new book by Amy Leverton celebrating all things denim.
‘Denim Dudes: Streetstyle, Vintage, Workwear, Obsession’ is the latest release from Amy Leverton. Amy is denim director at go-to trend and style website WGSN.
The book contains about 100 commissioned portraits of denim heroes from across the globe. The list reads like a who’s who of the denim industry amongst denim-devoted celebrities: Diesel‘s Adriano Goldschmeid photographed in Los Angeles, Huggy Leaver photographed in London, Warehouse Japan‘s Kenichi and Kenji Shiotani shot in Tokyo, Pace Jeans’ Klas Erixon photographed in Stockholm, and Greg Chapman of Gentry who Amy met in New York (below).
But this isn’t just a tome glorifying celebrities. It’s also a fascinating snapshot of denim’s role in fashion, with many documented street style photographs. And what we’re really interested in here at Field Grey is the attention to detail in the book; that is, the intricate design details associated with denim. Workwear elements across jeans, jackets and other garments are captured and celebrated: martingale (cinched) fastenings, European workwear styles, tailored stitching, denim aprons; even denim decay gets the thumbs up.
