2016 has been unique, to say the least. It’s been a great year for Field Grey, with the launch of a range of projects we’re very proud of, as well as a brand new office and a brand new website.
We’ve put together a selection of our favourite projects from this year, handpicked by our team. Here they are:
Janice
Lexus
“Lexus invited us to put together visual concept boards exploring automotive and luxury retail and how this might translate into uniforms for the brand. The research explored how the luxury market place has evolved to appeal to a younger, wider global audience with technology playing a bigger role. We aim to broaden our approach to work in this area in 2017 and aim to include more research driven and workshop events for our clients!”
Randolph
Home House London
“My highlight of 2016 has to be working on the bespoke tailoring solution we developed for Home House, the private members club based in Portman Square. Set across three Georgian townhouses, the club required a uniform reflective of the opulent neoclassical interiors and vibrant personality. Alongside classic tailoring we explored contemporary interpretations of embellishment to give the uniform a distinctive talking point, referencing Gucci SS16 and Stella McCartney SS16. Cedric, the Houses’ mascot was the perfect emblem to adorn the uniform. Hand embroidered with metallic threads, the crest was the crowning jewel on our bespoke solution.”
Colette
Bennett Hay
“For me, the most rewarding project was working with Bennett Hay on their bespoke uniform solution for their café venues. The uniform consisted of a petrol bib apron with contrast black herringbone and complimentary nickel eyelets and strap adjusters. The Bib apron was teamed with a bespoke chambray style shirt. Details such as white matte buttons and subtle branding were added to create a relaxed and modern feel. Seeing a project develop from illustration to product and all the bits in between is always an exciting process. Here’s too more of this in 2017!”
Christy
South Place Hotel
“Being new to the team I took a look at Field Grey’s most recent projects, and my favorite since joining would be South Place Hotel. The uniforms are bespoke and represent what Field Grey does best; bringing wearable and workable fashion-forward uniforms to the table. The East End location inspired a new take on English heritage. The knitted silk ties bring creativity to the city, along with elegant digitally-printed dresses showcasing Field Grey’s talents. White shirts and Pantone-matched belts make the collection a beautiful, modern take on British tailoring. I look forward to working on more projects to come in the New Year!”
Barbara
Brindisa
“I get involved in most of the Field grey project costings and proposals. It’s great to be able to see the fruits of the creative and financial process at the actual venue. I love the food at the Brindisa Tapas restaurants and the outing is made even more special by knowing that the staff look fabulous in the t-shirts and bespoke aprons designed by Field Grey!”
Nina
Apron Making Workshops
“In the run up to christmas we were asked to be a part of ‘Christmas at Redchurch Street’. In the first week of advent we ran Apron making workshops to the general public from the huge windows of MAST chocolate factory. This project was particularly interesting due to the interaction with the public, using a range of skill sets. It was fun for all ages, from our youngest attendee (2) to our oldest (75). It was an excellent opportunity for Field Grey to share some know-how and have some festive fun!”
Apron kits are still available to buy through the website – more info here.
Happy New Year from all the team at Field Grey – we hope 2017 brings you everything you wish for!
