Sprüth Magers launches an exhibition this month dedicated to artist Sterling Ruby. For the first time, WORK WEAR: Garment and Textile Archive 2008–2016, an eight year collection of Ruby’s own uniform, will go on display. The pieces document Ruby’s fascination with textiles and workwear in general.

American artist Sterling Ruby is known for his large scale works, which often include a combination of sculpture, painting and video. Ruby seeks inspiration from hip-hop culture, graffiti, globalisation and consumption, and is a long-term collaborator of Field Grey favourite Raf Simons; this exhibition offers an insight into their work together, on both the collections and Simons’ first store in Japan.
Numerous articles on display, hung like a concept menswear store, ranging from paint-splattered sweaters to dyed denim. A selection of ominous bags dominate the central space, and large-scale fabric adorns the walls.
A selection of bags and reading material is on display in cabinets, too.
The exhibition runs until 9 April; for more information visit the Sprüth Magers website.
