Exciting news! Our new hotel uniform collection for Z Hotels is nearly ready to roll.
Right now, staff at Z Hotels’ The Strand and soon-to-open Leicester Square are putting the pieces through their paces. Daily wear and wash tests will ensure these hospitality uniforms stay sharp on the peg and perform just as well on the job.
So what better time to dive into the modern workwear collection set to roll out across Z Hotels’ 15 locations over the next year?

The task – designing a relaxed yet refined hotel uniform
When Z Hotels asked Field Grey to refresh their staff uniforms, they wanted something that reflected their casual, lifestyle-driven brand while being enjoyable for staff to wear. They asked for an injection of flair, character and colour – a step away from traditional hospitality workwear. We delivered a cool workwear-inspired hotel uniform that fits right in with their informal vibe and urban settings.
Unusually for a hotel brand, Z Hotels operates with a pretty much hierarchy-free team structure, made up of general service assistants and managers. With that in mind, we created a unified collection that still allows individual personalities to shine. The brand creates lifestyle spaces in city settings, and we wanted the staff uniform designs to reflect that. We blended off-the-peg, Readywear and bespoke pieces to craft a cohesive, distinctive look that feels more like contemporary workwear than traditional hotel wear.
The details – standout pieces and how they perform
Stretchy denim and jersey fabrics give movement and comfort, while the colour palette of Rust, Navy and Biscuit – inspired by their urban locations – chimes with Z Hotels’ cool brand identity.

A standout piece from the collection is the Grey jersey jacket from Brook Taverner. It’s a lovely casual alternative to a more formal blazer. With its stretch fabric composition and patch pockets, it’s super comfortable but still has that touch of formality guests expect.

Z Hotels can choose between the Biscuit and White stripe bib shirt – a new addition to our Readywear range with a thicker stripe than our usual microstripe – or the Warm White bib shirt. Both pair beautifully with Indigo denim jeans containing 2% Elastane for extra stretch.
Key accessories include a bespoke brown leather belt with a custom lead ‘Z’ buckle and Sam Browne-style stops, plus navy braces with silver hardware.

Other Unisex pieces include short sleeve T-shirts in Dark Navy and Rust in 100% GOTS organic cotton, a navy poly-cotton Readywear apron with silver hardware. Bespoke brown leather sneakers with embossed ‘Z’ branding on the heel and Cobalt Blue socks complete the look.

Branding elements are subtle yet effective, with a discreet ‘Z’ embroidery under the shirt yoke and on the back of the T-shirt, along with a branded tax tab sewn into the jeans’ waistband.
For chiller weather, we sourced thermal layers that keep the team warm without being visible – a thoughtful touch that reflects Z Hotels’ care for their team members.

Wearer trials – why they matter in hospitality workwear
To ensure the new Z Hotels uniforms are as functional as they are stylish, we’re running wearer trials at two flagship locations: the new Leicester Square hotel, set to open next month, and The Strand. Team members are testing the collection in real working conditions – wearing, washing and assessing them for comfort and durability.
This process guarantees that when the full rollout happens across all 15 Z Hotels locations, the uniforms will meet the tough demands of busy hospitality environments.
The Field Grey approach – a new standard in hotel uniforms
Our approach for the Z Hotels uniforms goes beyond traditional hotel uniforms. By weaving comfort, functionality and brand identity into every stitch, we’ve created a bespoke hospitality workwear collection that helps Z Hotels set a new standard for modern hotel staff attire.
And thanks to our wearer trials, we know these staff uniforms work hard in real-life hospitality settings, too.
